English test

A B2 level in English is required to apply for programs taught in English. A B1 level in English is required for most of our other programs.

How do you prove your level of English?

  • An English language test is mandatory for admission to bachelor's and master's degree programs, full-time and work-study programs.
  • Executive Education programs are not required to take an English language admission test.
  • The minimum certification levels required vary by program. The recognized test types and possible exemptions are outlined below.
Please note: To be admissible, any test submitted must have been taken within the 2 years preceding the application for admission on January 1 of that year. Test results must be submitted with all documents before the application deadline. A test registration certificate is not acceptable.
 
English language requirements (with certification) by program

In accordance with the Master's program study regulations, all students on Master's programmes subject to a B1 level requirement during admission will be required to provide proof of a CEFR B2 level in English in order to validate their degree (GO4B2 programme).
Which English language tests are accepted by Grenoble IAE - INP?

The tests accepted are : TOEIC, TOEFL, CLES, IELTS, Linguaskill, Cambridge English Qualifications for Higher Education and Duolingo.

Exemptions from French Proficiency Certification

To qualify for an English language certification exemption, you must meet one of the following criteria :

  • Be a Candidate from a country where english is an official language (ID required): see the list of countries here (PDF)
  • Only for Full English Programs, with B2 as minimum level required : Be a candidate with a Graduate degree from an English-taught program (certificate of English language study issued by the institution) within the last five years.

Language proficiency can also be assessed and validated during an admission interview.

Which programs do not require an English test?
No English language certificate is required for the following programs:
  • Vocational Bachelor degrees: Assurance, Banque, Finance ; Distrisup Management ; Organisation et gestion des établissements hôteliers et de restauration
  • Executive Education programs
